New article about The design is not art, hope you enjoy while reading the article. This article is really interesting for me.

I tend to crawl when I hear what I do in life described as “artistic.” For me, a word that tormented souls suffocating on bread crusts surviving to the Save the Mothers of the earth wear pearls woven caftans and aimless undergraduate liberal arts, with little chance or discipline. This does not mean I am a kind of Philistine, who can not appreciate the difference between a masterpiece by Picasso and Junk by Thomas Kinkade. I think art – real art – is of crucial importance, important and powerful. However, it is not what I do.

What I do is far more pragmatic than that. A popular definition describes the design as a problem and I think it’s largely true. It is important to ensure that all elements of the requested page and features appear on the site, but it is the easy part. The hard part is that all the elements so that it strengthens the brand’s image.

This is what I consider the greatest departure between art and design. Both are in the business of creating things, but the artist uses all available means to discover and report some more truth. Designers can get an idea of what they to a larger truth, but it has nothing to do with her work day because their daily work is to solve the creative brief, not the art.

So what is the Creative Brief?

The Creative Brief is a visual overview of all the challenges that must be addressed. There may be problems in functionality, but the more he tries, the tone and general message that to achieve the final product needs to communicate. Many people will think they can not describe exactly what a designer they are created. They come to the Launch meeting with a variety of technical problems that need to be answered satisfactorily, but the design? Now they know what they like and they know when they see it.

The danger here is that if design issues are not made, answered or not answered sufficiently, there is a real opportunity, something that does not have expectations. If such expectations reflected in one document, however, both the designer and the client, refer to him as one day. At the end of the day is the question of whether the execution of memory addresses, not just a subjective measure of aesthetics.

How can we get people talking about design?

For many, the design is intended to be expressed and appreciated, and makes them reluctant to engage in a conversation. I tend to think they are confusing it with art. By introducing the concept of usability, we can finally looking over the range of colors and fonts, and go into the heart of the experience.

experience with these words – and feel, rather than design, is also an effective means to attract people into the conversation. It can be a cheap trick of semantics, but you could say that design is what you do to solve the problems of usability and user experience. It is much easier to get someone in a conversation about their frustrations and pain points with similar experiences and work your way back from there. The topics addressed in this conversation, what to do with the creative brief information about the target audience, business goals, messaging and calls to action.

Finally

Several designers creative approach memories differently, but all the designers have to listening to their customers well. The best designers are those that are in a position to the information they need, even drag reluctant to help our clients create elegant solutions to complex problems.
